Meet the Artist: MAISIE-JO CLIFFORD

Within my art practice I am focusing on the theme of validating emotional vulnerability among women, through the use of responses from the public posed by my illustrations. This theme has stemmed from my interest in 1980's and 1990's feminist punk groups and movements, who aimed to create female communities through their use of music and art. I am aiming to create my own female community using various mediums such as my own website and by holding pop-up shops which are open to female members of the public- uniting women through the theme of validating their feelings, thoughts and emotions. I also use responses I gain to create new illustrations, which is something I intend to explore further for our final exhibition!
